Letter to my 10 year old self

Dear Young Joe,

This is you from the future. It’s the year 2011 now, so obviously you survived the computer crash and the aliens from Mars taking over the world when it turned from 1999 to 2000, so good job buddy. Just kidding there were no aliens. I’m writing to you to tell you what to expect in the future. It might not seem possible right now but within the next 10 years you will see all 4 Philadelphia teams make their respective championships. Now to the important stuff...Don’t spend so much time staying inside in the summer. Go outside and play with your friends, in about 5 years your parents are going to force you have a job and you’ll be busy with other things. Go enjoy being a kid. You should try a little harder in school too. You’ll feel so much better knowing you did. Oh and don’t even think about pursuing girls in Harrisburg. You can do better… trust me. Read a few more books and watch less TV. Don’t worry about which Philadelphia team is going to sign you, because none of them do. Spend more time being yourself, because a lot of people like YOU and want to be around you. Be nicer to Matt and when you become a teenager, know that he’s watching everything you do, whether you want him to or not so be a good role model for him. Even though he’s a pain right now he’s going to end up being your best and most loyal friend. Go to church and try to strengthen your relationship with God. Study that bible because when you get to college, you’re going to want to know more. Just remember to do you very best in everything and you’re going to be successful. You have a lot of talents and gifts; don’t let anyone make you think you don’t.

P.S. In March of 2010, you’re going to meet a girl named Kelsey Gordon, just because she’s shy, doesn’t mean she doesn’t like you. Don’t blow it.

Sincerely,

Older Joe
